You may recognise a few people in this wedding including us! Kirstie is Kev’s daughter and it was an an absolute honour to be able to capture her wedding to Steven. A lot of people were surprised that we had decided to photograph this special day but, do you know what, it feels special to know that we have recorded one of the most important days in our families’ lives for generations to come.

They chose the stunning Kailzie Gardens in Peebles for their ceremony and drinks reception. It was an outdoor ceremony so there was a lot of crossing of fingers for the weather.

Our day was jam packed. I went to Kirstie at her home (after having my hair done 🙂  ) where she was getting ready with her Mum and Bridesmaids. Kirstie is the talent behind Signature Hair by Kirstie and she couldn’t help but get involved with the hair styling for the day. She styled three of the bridesmaids! The person responsible for Kirstie’s wonderful hair up (and one of the other bridesmaids) was her Auntie.

Another familiar face in the borders was doing the make-up for the girls. I have worked with Danni Burnside Make Up Artist before and she is fabulous at what she does. All the ladies looked stunning.

It was then time to get into THE dress and what a dress. It was a Mori Lee Design from LA Bridal in Galashiels. It was quite handy that Amy, the owner of the bridal boutique, was also a bridesmaid so there was an expert on hand to get Kirstie into the dress. The bridesmaids dresses all came from LA Bridal as well. Kirstie and Amy put their creative talent into the bouquets too. Yes they made them themselves!

Kev had been with Steven in the morning doing some last minute checking of the venue and then capturing shots of the guys getting into their kilts. There were some lovely moments of Steven getting Alfie, his son, into his kilt.

Kev then made his way back across to Kirstie to take on his Father of the Bride responsibility. When he saw his daughter for the first time there were tears! I expected it though as he is a bit of a softie!

Amy’s Mum transported Kirstie and her Dad to the gardens. We had all gone ahead so were ready to see her arrive. There was then the most lovely walk from the car into the gardens. The registrar was waiting with Alfie who was going to walk down the aisle. There was the most emotional moment when he saw his Mum for the first time. I admit I was crying behind the camera! The emotion continued throughout the ceremony as you will see in the photos. Lots of laughter and tears.

It was nice that Kirstie and Steven had chosen an unplugged ceremony so there were no distracting phones in the photos and everyone was able to concentrate on the ceremony.

Once married there was time for everyone to enjoy the surroundings with a drinks reception and delicious canapes supplied by one of Kev’s oldest friends, James. Then it was photo time. We managed to get ourselves into the photos with the use of a tripod and triggar!

Then we had the special honour of taking the pair off for their couple photos. The gardens are absolutely beautiful and we could have stayed there forever taking photos but it was soon time to make our way to the bus which was transporting us back to Innerleithen Memorial Hall which was where the reception and party was to take place.

Kirstie and Steven had put a lot of effort into transforming the hall, there were lots of people to help the day before and it really was worth it. The lovely ladies from Something Borrowed Events had supplied all the chair covers, backdrops, centrepieces, Love Letters, Cake Stand etc. They worked so hard. The venue flowers were supplied by Carol’s Creations.

Speeches first before eating. Lots of laughter and emotion to be captured. The evening guests arrived to see the hall looking even more amazing in the evening. Cake cutting and first dance out the way, it was then time to party and capture more photos in our Photo Booth which travelled with us!

We would personally like to thank everyone who contributed to Kirstie and Steven’s day. It was truly special. Family and friends had an absolute blast and we are so proud to have been able to capture all the moments. Enjoy a selection of the photos.
