It isn’t just a wedding couple that dread the worst possible weather on their wedding day, it is the wedding photographer too! It’s not because we can’t cope with bad weather, it just makes the whole logistics of a wedding for the couple and their guests more awkward and some of the things they planned may not be able to happen as a result. We had driving rain and blustery winds for most of Lucy and Jack’s big day! Not the perfect wedding weather. They were marrying in St Andrew’s Church in Cransley, Northamptonshire and then travelling to Brownsover Hall Hotel in Rugby, Warwickshire.

I spent the morning with Lucy as she had make up and hair done by Barbarella Hair with her bridesmaids and Mum. Kev went off to see Jack and capture a few shots of him in his suit from Warwicks in Northampton. We made our way to the Church to await the arrival of our stunning bride. The bridesmaids were sensible and stayed inside the Church to wait. Remarkably Lucy managed to make her way down the long path without getting a mark on her dress and without a hair out of place. You will see from the photos why this was an achievement! The service was lovely and the vicar kindly let us say in Church afterwards for the family shots that Lucy and Jack had requested. It was then on to the hotel in their vintage Rolls Royce.

A snow machine was waiting for them which was to be the first indication of what a beautiful Christmas themed wedding the pair had planned. Hayley from the hotel greeted them with their welcome drinks, hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows….yum! Ideal for such a day. Inside, Dunchurch Silver Bank were playing Christmas carols, the log fire in reception was burning and the guests were enjoying the warm and cosy atmosphere inside the hotel. Everything was Christmas! Mill House Events had decorated the room where the couple were to have their wedding breakfast, Flowers by Michelle added some festive magic, Lucy’s Mum made the finishing touches and as always it looked gorgeous. Lots of Christmas decorations completed the look. The amazing cake was made by the bride herself…very very talented lady.

Despite the weather we did get some beautiful photographs of Lucy and Jack. We always take additional lighting to our weddings and this was invaluable on this occasion. As Lucy and Jack finished their meal the rain had eased so we got some shots just outside the back door where there was some shelter from the wind, still managing to keep Lucy’s dress clean! The evening celebrations included some fun with a Photo Booth from Giggle Booth and music from Total Eclipse.

It really was an amazing day with a gorgeous couple. A big thank you to Lucy and Jack for choosing us as their wedding photographers. Enjoy the photos. If you want to see more then ask the couple for the password to their gallery.

ps Watch this space for future photos as they are covered by our wet weather guarantee. A chance for Lucy to put that beautiful dress back on and for us to get them some shots in the grounds of the hotel 🙂
